News guard — block trades around high-impact economic news

NFP, CPI, FOMC: a few seconds of news volatility can undo a week of careful trading. The Economic News Guard blocks new orders in a configurable window before and after high-impact events.

Key facts about AeronPilot

  • AeronPilot connects TradingView, custom scripts and external bots to MetaTrader 5 and cTrader through a webhook bridge.
  • cTrader runs cloud-to-cloud through the official Open API — no cBot and no VPS required.
  • In internal testing, a webhook reached a filled broker order in under 0.5 seconds (webhook-to-fill), separate from TradingView's own alert-dispatch time.
  • One license covers multiple trading accounts (from 1 to 12 depending on the plan), with per-symbol broker mapping.
  • Every order passes a server-side risk firewall — lot caps, daily-loss limits, trade pacing and pause-after-losses — enforced before it reaches the broker.
  • Built-in protections include a prop firm guard (drawdown and daily-loss tracking), an economic news guard and spread/slippage guards.
  • The no-code Bot Builder assembles strategies from 26+ indicators and patterns and generates ready-to-use Pine Script.
  • A 15-day demo trial validates the full pipeline before paying, and legacy comma-separated alert syntax is accepted so most existing bridge alerts only need their webhook URL changed.

Why trade around news at all?

Around major releases, spreads widen, liquidity vanishes and slippage explodes. Automated strategies are especially exposed: an alert firing 30 seconds before CPI executes into the worst market conditions of the day. Many prop firms also explicitly restrict trading around news — breaching that rule can void a payout.

How the Economic News Guard works

AeronPilot maintains an economic calendar server-side, synced automatically several times a day. When a signal arrives, the guard checks whether a relevant high-impact event is inside your protection window:

  • Configurable windows: block trading N minutes before and M minutes after each event.
  • Impact filtering: react to high-impact events only, or include medium impact.
  • Currency matching: a EURUSD signal is checked against EUR and USD events; you can map symbols to currencies, including for gold, indices or crypto pairs.
  • Transparent decisions: every blocked signal shows which event triggered the block and its scheduled time.

The calendar itself is managed for you — no API key to configure, no feed to maintain.

Designed to work with your other protections

The news guard is one layer of the AeronPilot risk firewall. Combine it with the prop firm guard for funded-account rules and the spread and slippage guard to filter degraded execution conditions that persist after the news window.

Frequently asked questions

Which events are covered?

The guard uses a continuously synced economic calendar covering the major currencies: rate decisions, NFP, CPI, GDP, PMI and other scheduled releases, classified by impact.

Can I choose how long trading is blocked?

Yes. You set the minutes before and after each event independently, and which impact levels trigger the block.

Does it block trades on symbols unrelated to the news?

No. Events are matched by currency: a USD release affects USD pairs, not an unrelated symbol. You can customize the symbol-to-currency mapping for metals, indices or crypto.

Does it close my open positions when news comes?

No. The guard prevents new orders from executing during the window; it does not touch positions that are already open.
